He had been associated with Branch Grocery here for a number of years. Son of the late James Richard and Harriett Elizabeth Byrd, he was a member of Congregational Christian Church, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Franklin Pythian Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Bobbitt Byrd; one daughter, Mrs. Albert F. Eldridge of Chicago; three brothers, C.O. and R.E. Byrd of Franklin, and Capt. Jesse R. Byrd U.S.A.; one sister, Mrs. Earl Bell of Alexandria, and several nieces and nephews. Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the residence by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson, assisted by the Rev. R.E. Brittle. The casket was covered with a pall of asters and gladioli. Pallbearers were M.P. Redford, George H. Parker, G.E. Pillow, Everett Bryant, W.O. Modlin, Marion Whitfield, E.B. Gilmore and R.C. Branch, Jr. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
