All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ THEODOSIA HINES BARRETT Mrs. Theodosia Hines Barrett, wife of Howard James Barrett, died at Raiford Hospital Sunday morning following an illness of about two months. Mrs. Barrett, who was 27, was a young woman of attractive disposition and her untimely death is regretted by a large circle of friends. She was the daughter of Mrs. Eva Darden Hines and the late Roland E. Hines, her mother and husband being the only survivors. A member of the Franklin Congregational Christian Church, Mrs. Barrett was active in its young people’s society and was a member of the church choir. Services were held from the church Monday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock by her pastor. Dr. Elwood W. Jones, assisted by the Rev. B.B. Bland of High Street Methodist Church, the Rev. R.D. Stephenson of Franklin Baptist Church and the Rev. F.C. Lester of Elon College, N.C. "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" was sung by Mrs. L.B. Norfleet and Miss Mildred Varner and "Asleep In Jesus" was sung by a quartette consisting of Mrs. Norfleet, Miss Varner, Dr. Darden W. Jones and Robert A. Vaughan. The casket was covered with a pall of red roses, white gladioli, lilies and gypsophila, and there were numerous other floral offerings. Pallbearers were Dr. C.L. Beaver, Dr. Darden W. Jones, B.F. Savage, W.B. Hastings, R.C. Barrett, J.F. Jernigan, E.R. Bryant, Jr., and W.P. Arwood, Jr., burial being in Poplar Spring Cemetery here. Theodosia (HINES; Mrs. Howard J.)
