BRITT DIES IN BOYKINS William H. Britt, Sr., who died at his home in Boykins on Saturday, May 22, were held at the Boykins’ Baptist church on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. N.B. Habel officiated. He was assisted by the by the Rev. R.D. Stephenson and the Rev. Marshall Anderson. "How Firm A Foundation" was sung by the Rev. J. Felix Arnold, a former pastor of the Boykins Church, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Bryant. Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Ray Bunn, John Hill, Lee Hill, Earl Bryant, Frank Stephenson, W.R. Emmons, John Holland, and Robert Kirkland. The Board of Deacons of the Boykins Baptist Church and Mr. Britt’s Sunday school class were honorary pallbearers. A retired farmer, Mr. Britt was a native of North Carolina, but had been a resident of Boykins for many years. He was the husband of the late Mrs. Mary Stephenson Britt, and the son of the late Samuel P. and Mrs. Betty Pruden Britt. Mr. Britt is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Walter G. Garris of Suffolk and Mrs. Roland T. Baker of Boykins; six brothers, E.T. Britt, C.H. Britt, J.J. Britt, S.P. Britt, M.A. Britt, and E.F. Britt, all of Severn, N.C.; two sisters, Mrs. A.J. Harrell of Potecasi, N.C., and Mrs. J.C. Stephenson of Jackson, N.C., and a large number of nieces and nephews.
