Bradshaw, 70, a farmer and lifelong resident of the Newsoms community, died at his home early Wednesday morning, September 28, after an illness of over three months. The deceased was the son of the late George W. and Susanna Whitfield Bradshaw of Newsoms, and husband of Mrs. Nettie Ferguson Bradshaw, who survived him. He was a member of the Newsoms Baptist Church. Other survivors in addition to his wife are four daughters, Mrs. David Stilwell of Winston-Salem, N.C., Mrs. R.Henry Worrell of Richmond, Mrs. J. Thornton Gibbs of Cheriton, and Mrs. D.F. Watson of Newport News; three sons, Hersey C. Bradshaw of Newsoms and Aaron S. Bradshaw and Carl L. Bradshaw, both of Newport News; nine grandchildren; his stepmother, Mrs. Amorette Ferguson Bradshaw of Newsoms; four sisters, Mrs. J.R. Brooks and Mrs. M.F. Bryant of Courtland, Mrs. P.T. Edwards of Boykins and Mrs. H.L. Smith of Newsoms; two brothers, H.M. Bradshaw of Portsmouth and R.U. Bradshaw of Newsoms; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Bradshaw were conducted at three o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Newsoms Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. R.L. Chadwick. Interment was in the Newsoms cemetery.
