Driven to desperation and despondency because his love was unrequited life become a burden and was quietly liberated from his body through the agency of a revolver. He became infatuated with the younger of two ladies on whose farm he lived and labored, and feared that the affection which could not be gained by him was being claimed by rivals. Ancestry.com STONE-JOHNSON family tree gives Ernest L., d. Sep 1896. (unsourced) His parents had both been widowed twice. His father died in 1881, his mother in 1887.
