Mr. Bradshaw was born near Carrsville, but had lived in the Newsoms community for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amorette C. Bradshaw; four sons, C.C., Z.T., H.M. and Roy U. Bradshaw of Newsoms; four daughters, Mrs. P.T. Edwards, Mr. J.R. Brooks and Mrs. M.R. Bryant of Capron and Miss Rosa Bradshaw of Newsoms; and one sister, Mrs. R.L. Holland of Norfolk. Funeral services were held from the home Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Rev. L.E. Dailey officiating. Interment was made in the Newsoms Cemetery the active pallbearers being: W.E. Griffin, Dr. B.A. Pope, R.G. Edwards, Paul Brooks, John B. Darden, R.N. Darden, Geo. W. Brown and Jesse E. Coates. ****************************************************************************** GEORGE WASHINGTON BRADSHAW Geo. Washington Bradshaw, 79 years of age, a prominent citizen of Southampton County died at his home near Newsoms February 22, after an illness of three weeks. He was a native of Isle of Wight County, but had been a resident of Southampton for more than 50 years. As a citizen of the county and a member of Newsoms Baptist Church he will be greatly missed. For the last few years of his life on account of ill health, he was prohibited from taking active part in the services of his church. Though absent in body he was present in spirit, and was always ready to assist in the financial support of his church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Amorette C. Bradshaw; four sons, C.C. Bradshaw, Z.T. , H.M., and Roy U. Bradshaw, all of Newsoms; four daughters, Mrs. P.T. Edwards, Mrs. J.R. Brooks and Mrs. M.R. Bryant of Capron, and Miss Rosa Bradshaw of Newsoms; a sister, Mrs. R.L. Holland of Norfolk; 34 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock at his home near Newsoms, which were conducted by his Pastor, Rev. L.E. Dailey, assisted by Rev. L.F. Paulette of Smithfield, Rev. F.B. Handley of Boykins and Rev. W.P. Gibson of Petersburg. The pallbearers were: W.E. Griffin, Dr. B.A. Pope, R.G. Edwards, Paul Brooks, J.B. Darden, R.N. Darden, Geo.W. Brown and Jesse E. Coates. As evidence of the esteem in which he was held, a great multitude of people were present to express their sympathy for the bereaved family.
