A native of Georgia, he lived in this community 35 years. He was the husband of Mrs. Mary Scott Bridges and a son of Mrs. Lelia Warren Bridges and the late Oscar Bridges. He was a member of Hunterdale Christian Church, and a past president of its Layman’s Fellowship and of Hunterdale Ruritan Club. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are two sons, Hubert Bridges and Glenn Wilson Bridges of Franklin, and a daughter, Mrs. Robert D. Carter Jr. of Suffolk. A funeral service was conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Allen Wentz of Wendall (N.C.) Methodist Church. Burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery with W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Paul Councill, Jr., Edwin Beale, Bernard Blythe, Floyd Fowler, W.H. Ludt, Virgil Miller, Walter L. Young and R. Baird Cabell.
