Claude Lee Gatling. Burial was in the church cemetery. The body was taken from Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield to the church at 3 p.m. Pallbearers were Edward Bradshaw, Willie Bradshaw, Junius Bradshaw, Robbie Bradshaw, Alfred Bradshaw, Ronald Bradshaw, Woodrow Johnson and Sherman Hargrave Jr. Bradshaw, 78, died Thursday morning in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness. A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of Mrs. Eva Munford Bradshaw and a son of Joseph and Mrs. Betty Bradshaw*. He was a retired farmer and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. Besides his widow, surviving are a son, Thomas J. Bradshaw of Chuckatuck; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Futrell of Rocky Mounty, N.C., and Mrs. Mabel Hargrave of Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. Rebecca Johnson of Hampton; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held today at 4 p.m. in Black Creek Baptist church by the Rev. Claude Lee Gatling. Burial will be in the church cemetery. I have not find evidence to support that Bettie was united with a Joseph or Charlie Bradshaw Sr., though it is possible. Rather, the bros may have adopted their mother's maiden name.
