All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ SAMUEL BRADSHAW SAMUEL BRADSHAW, FRANKLIN AIDE, DIES FRANKLIN - Samuel Bradshaw, treasurer of Franklin since it became a city 11 years ago, died Wednesday* in a local hospital. Mr. Bradshaw had been a banker until his election as treasurer in 1969. A native of Isle of Wight County, he was active in area religious, social and civic activities, including the Red Cross where he was president of the Southampton Chapter. He was a charter member of the Franklin Lion's Club and was treasurer and Sunday school superintendent at Franklin Congregational Christian Church. Mr. Bradshaw served as an officer* during World War II, and was a graduate of Elon College. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Drake Bradshaw, two sisters, Mrs. Guy Holland of Baltimore and Mrs. Joseph Shelton Carr of Virginia Beach; and a brother, James Clifton Bradshaw of Chesapeake. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home, with burial in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
