BRADSHAW DIES IN SOUTHAMPTON Suffolk, Va., May 7. Mrs. Susan M. Bradshaw died at her old home place in Southampton County, April 30th. She had been visiting her daughter in Franklin, Va., and left for her home only a few days before her death. She was a well known and honored citizen and had spent all her life in that community. She joined Millfield Baptist church when she was a young girl. She is survived by six children, Mrs. A.L. Cutchins of Sedley, Va., Mrs. Rosa Spivey of Emporia, Mrs. Ella Johnson of Suffolk, Mrs. Mary Lee Blythe of Petersburg, Mrs. Mattie Harris of Franklin and Walter Bradshaw of Sedley, Va., 27 grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. On account of the illness of her son's wife, Mrs. Walter Bradshaw, funeral services were conducted at the grave by Rev. H.M. Pickett of Sedley, Va., and interment was in the Sedley cemetery. Mrs. Ella Johnson and Miss Vergie Brock of Suffolk, Mrs. Rosa Spivey, Mrs. Clara B. Whitlock and Miss Susie Bradshaw of Emporia, attended the funeral. ****************************************************************************** MRS. SUSAN M. BRADSHAW Mrs. Susan M. Bradshaw was born in Southampton County November 7, 1835, and died at her old home place April 30, 1924. She had been living with her youngest daughter in Franklin and went home a few days before her death. Her long and useful life was spent in the community in which she first saw the light. She was a well-known, honored and respected citizen. When a very young woman she joined Millfield Baptist Church and was one of its oldest members. At the close of the Civil War she was married to William J. Bradshaw, who preceded her to the grave June 15, 1905. To this union were born eight children. She is survived by five daughters: Mrs. A.L. Cutchins of Sedley, Mrs. Rosa Spivey of Emporia, Mrs. Ella Johnson of Suffolk, Mrs. Mary Lu Blythe of Petersburg, and Mrs. Mattie Harris of Franklin, and one son, Walter Bradshaw of Sedley; twenty-seven grandchildren and sixteen great- grandchildren. The funeral services, on account of the illness of her son's wife, were conducted at the grave by Rev. Na-. than Pickett of Sedley, and her body laid to rest in the Sedley Cemetery beneath a mound of fragrant flowers. Those from out of the community who were present at the funeral were Mrs. Ella Johnson and Miss Virgie Brock of Suffolk, and Mrs. Rosa Spivey, Mrs. Clara B. Whitlock and Miss Susie Bradshaw of Emporia.
