All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ VERNETTIE FERGUSON BRADSHAW Mrs. Nettie Ferguson Bradshaw, 82, well-known and beloved resident of the Newsoms community, died early Wednesday morning, October 12 at her home after a lingering illness of several months. She was the widow of Cordie C. Bradshaw and the daughter of the late Samuel and Martha Ann Bryant Ferguson of Southampton County. She was one of the oldest members of the Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving her are four daughters, Mrs. Bertha Stillwell of Winston-Salem, N.C., Mrs. Henry Worrell of Richmond, Mrs. Jack Watson of Hampton and Mrs. Thornton Gibbs of Cheriton; two sons, Hersey C. Bradshaw of Newsoms and Carl L. Bradshaw of Seaboard, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. H.T. Miles of Newsoms and Mrs. H.E. Edwards of Petersburg; two brothers, Clarence Q. Ferguson of Newsoms and Carlton Ferguson of Suffolk and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the Newsoms Baptist Church this (Thursday) afternoon at 3 o’clock with Rev. L.F. Smith, pastor of the church, and Rev. L.E. Dailey of Powellsville, N.C., former pastor, officiating. Interment was in Newsoms Cemetery. "Nettie" Vernettie (FERGUSON; Mrs. Cordie C.)
