Mr. Barden, a Nansemond County native, was a member of South Quay Baptist Church and a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Edith Bryant Barden; a daughter, Linda Bradshaw of Franklin; a son, Jimmy Barden of Suffolk; a sister, Blannie Porter of Franklin; and two grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Monday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Clyde R. Alderman. Burial was in Southampton Memorial Park.
