LUTHER CARLTON BARDEN

   Franklin - Funeral services for Luther Carlton Barden Sr.,  73, were held 
Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home by Dr. R.E. Brittle. Burial was in Southampton 
Memorial Park.

   Barden died Monday in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

   He was a native of Southampton County and the husband of Cellie Umphlette 
Barden. He was a retired automobile salesman and a member of Hunterdale United 
Church of Christ.

   Other survivors include a son, Carlton Barden, Jr. of Franklin; a sister, 
Retha Woody of Lynchburg; and a half brother, Obed Ferguson of Richmond.
