All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ IRVING CLAUDIUS BROWN Irving Claudius Brown, 42, popular member of the Franklin police department for the past six years, died in the McGuire Veterans Hospital, Richmond, on Friday afternoon, June 15, after an illness of one week. Officer Brown was a native of Westerly, R.I. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of that city. He served in the 45th Divison at Camp Pickett during World War II. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Ella Mae Rose Brown, and a stepson, Shirley Rose, Jr., both of Franklin; and his father, Chester Brown, of Providence, R.I. Funeral services were conducted at the graveside in Poplar Spring Cemetery on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. R.D. Stephenson and Rev. Jack Boyles. A squad from Battery "B" fired the traditional three volleys over the grave. The active pallbearers were members of the Franklin police force, W.L. Borrow, Otis M. Blythe, W.R. Carr, Lawless Cobb, D.C. Poole, and R.L. Rhea.
