J.S.* BARNES Mrs. J.S. Barnes died Tuesday, August 22, at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P.H. Drake, in Clay street. The deceased was an estimable Christian woman formerly of the Newsoms community but had been making her home here with her daughter for a few months. She was in her sixty- sixth year and death came as the result of a stroke of paralysis sustained last Saturday night, although her condition was quite feeble from previous attacks of the same malady. Mrs. Barnes was a faithful and consistent member of the Newsoms M.E. Church, and had enjoyed a long and useful Christian life. Funeral services were conducted from Mrs. Drake's residence Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock by Dr. C.H. Rowland of the Christian Church and Rev. L.F. Paulette of Holland, interment being made in the cemetery at Newsoms. She is survived by eight children: Mrs. W.T. Worrell of Como, J.D. Fowler and Mrs. P.H. Drake of Franklin, Mrs. L.L. Ellis of Courtland, Mrs. Claude Bryant of Franklin, W.R. Fowler of Sunbeam, J.R. Fowler of Newsoms and Mrs. L.C. Cutchin of Sunbeam, besides several grandchildren and other relatives. Anna B.
