Barnes, and daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.C. King of Nansemond County, passed quietly away early Sunday morning at her home in Boykins after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Jas. H. Barnes; three sons, Ralph K. Barnes, James Carroll Barnes of Murfreesboro, N.C., and W. Wilson Barnes of Ahoskie, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. James Edward Gardner, of Suffolk, and one grandson, W. Wilson Barnes, Jr. Mrs. Barnes is also survived by the following sisters and brothers: Miss Pearle King of this town, Mrs. E.H. Tyler of Suffolk, C.W. King and P.P. King of Suffolk and W.S. King of Newport News. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by Rev. Frank B. Handley, assisted by Rev. E.B. Loving and Rev. W.V. Carroll of Windsor. The following served as active pallbearers; C.M. Edwards, J.M. Britt, W. Hugh Powell, Nelson Gardner, C.P. Spencer and Dr. R.B. Blowe. Interment was in Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins.
