All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ PATRICK HENRY BRANCHE PROMINENT FARMER OF IVOR COMMUNITY PASSED AWAY JULY 1 Patrick Henry Branche, 80, prominent retired farmer of the Ivor community passed away Sunday night, July 1, at his home near Berlin after a prolonged illness. On Sept. 17, 1905 he was united in marriage to Fannie Raiford. To this union were born ten children of whom survived four daughters, Misses Sadie and Julia Branche, Mrs. Ruth Duncan, Mrs. Mary Sherard, and three sons, Junius, John and Paul Branche. In addition to his wife and children he is survived by 18 grandchildren, one brother, Fenton Branche of Zuni and Mrs. Lillian B. Beale of Zuni besides a number of neices and nephews. On Sept. 17, 1955 Henry and Fannie Branche celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In his youth he joined Milfield Baptist Church and was faithful and loyal to his church until failing health prevented his attendance. Their Christian home has always been a gathering place for friends and relatives. Henry was much loved and respected by those who knew him. He lived a full and busy life, always happiest when serving his friends and neighbors. As a loving father and devoted husband, he ever made little sacrifices that meant joy and happiness for each one. As he came near to the valley of the shodow of death he was heard to say with a smile on his face. "It's all right, yes, it's all right and it's well with my soul." Funeral services were held Tueday at 4 o'clock in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. J.S. Cobb, and Rev. James Coney. Joel C. Holland sang "Sunrise Tomorrow" and Mr. and Mrs. James Coney sang "It Is Well With My Soul" Active pallbearers were Edward Lowe, A.J. Bulls, Elton Raiford, George Philip Raiford, Johnnie Beale, Harold Branche, Walter Branche and Joe Branche. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. E.M. Babb, Thomas Pulley, W.C. Rawls, G.C. Niblett, Raby Conwell, Robert Taylor, Edgar Vick Stephenson, Herman Barnes, Charles Neave and Elton Stephenson.
