ROBERT LEE BARNES

   NEWSOMS - A funeral service for Robert Lee Barnes was conducted Tuesday at 
2:30 p.m. in Newsoms Cemetery by the Rev. Allen Lawrence of Newsoms Baptist 
Church.  W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home was in charge.

   Pallbearers were Claude Drake Jr., George T. Drake, Lonnie Gray, Otis Gray, 
Waite Gray and Dick Poole.

   Barnes, 74*, a native of Southampton County, died Sunday afternoon in his 
home after a brief illness.

   He was the husband of the late Mrs. Kate Barkley Barnes and a son of Henry 
Thomas and Mrs. Betty Ann Story** Barnes.

   He was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church.

   Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Claude Drake and Mrs. Genie Drake of 
Newsoms and Mrs. Lonnie B. Vann of Franklin.
