All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM MORDECAI BRANCH William Mordecai Branch, Sr., 70, of 404 Chestnut Street, died in Raiford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday afternoon, October 7, after a brief illness. Mr. Branch had been in business in Franklin for the past 43 years, operating a shoe repair shop. He was the son of the late Alexander and Susan Bradshaw Branch of Southampton County, and was a member of the Franklin Baptist Church and its Bruner Bible Class. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Bradshaw Branch; one son, William M. Branch, Jr., of Franklin; one daughter, Mrs. George G. Lassiter of Baltimore, Md., four grandchildren two brothers, Robert C. Branch, Sr., and Gurney W. Branch of Franklin; and one sister, Mrs. M.L. Screws, also of Franklin. Services for Mr. Branch will be held in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Rev. Ira D. Hudgins, pastor of the Franklin Baptist Church, and Rev. R.D. Stephenson, a former pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery.
