Bryant, well-known lumberman of Petersburg, died at his country home in Doswell this morning at. 9 o'clock, according to word received here by relatives. Funeral services and burial will be at Franklin tomorrow. Full arrangements have not yet been completed. Mr. Bryant was in his 67th year, and was a native of Southampton county. He had been in the lumber and manufacturing business, in North and South Carolina before coming to Petersburg several years ago to continue in that trade. He had wide business interests. He was a brother of R.M. Bryant, of Richmond, and also leaves two sisters, [Mrs.] J.A. Jackson and Miss A.M. Bryant, both of Franklin. ****************************************************************************** N. BYNUM BRYANT Suffolk, Jan. 7. - Funeral services for the late N. Bynum Bryant, 68, who died at his winter home in Dolgeville, near Richmond, were held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. J.A. Jackson, of Franklin, conducted by the Rev. J.B. McAllister, assisted by the Rev. R.D. Stevenson [sic; Stephenson]. Active pallbearers were J.F. Bryant, W.O. Bristow, B.L. Holt, J.B. Gay, E.R. Camp, J.L. Camp, Jr., B.M. Carter and Mr. Williamson. Honorary pallbearers were W.H. Jenkins, R.H.B. Cobb, Jesse Lankford, W.G. Williams, Z.H. Powell, A.L. Gardner, E.H. Mann, of Petersburg; L.L. Manry, R.E.L. Watkins, W.T. Pace and L. Ashby Gay. Mr. Bryant was connected with the Bryant Bros. and Bryant & Ewell lumber interests and was an active member of the Lumber Dealers' Association of the Eastern part of the State. He is survived by one brother, R.M. Bryant, of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. J.A. Jackson and Miss Nettie Bryant, of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Dr. J.F. Bryant, of Franklin. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. ****************************************************************************** DEATH OF BYNUM BRYANT N.B. Bryant, a well-known former resident of Franklin, died at his country home near Doswell, Va., January 6, in his sixty-eighth year. He had been in poor health for about three years and death was caused by complications resulting from a fall sustained about ten days ago. Bynum Bryant, as he was familiarly known, was a son of the late Captain J.D. Bryant and Mrs. Elizabeth Sugars Bryant, and was born in this county on the old "Bloomfield" farm near Courtland. He was a brother of the late Dr. J.F. Bryant and the late Mrs. Littleton A. Gay, both of this town, and a half-brother of R.M. Bryant of Richmond, Mrs. J.A. Jackson and Miss Nettie M. Bryant of Franklin. Mr. Bryant was an energetic and active business man and had accumulated substantial property holdings during his life. For many years he was associated with the Camp Manufacturing Company of this place, conducting logging operations for them at several of their mills, particularly in Brunswick and Dinwiddie counties. He had never married. The body was brought to Franklin for burial Wednesday, accompanied by R.M. Bryant and family of Richmond, and services were conducted from the Jackson residence in North High Street Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Dr. J.D. McAlister, assisted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson. Interment was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery and the active pall bearers were: J.F. Bryant, Jr., W.O. Bristow, B.L. Holt, J.B. Gay, P.R. Camp, Jas. L. Camp, Jr., R.M. Bryant, Jr., and Mr. Williamson of Richmond. The honorary pall bearers were J.L. Camp, W.H. Jenkins, R.H.B. Cobb, W.G. Williams, R.E.L. Watkins, W.T. Pace, A.L. Gardner, L. Ashby Gay, Jesse Lankford, L.L. Manry of Courtland, Z.H. Powell of Norfolk and R.H. Mann of Petersburg. Doswell actually lies in Hanover Co.; "Dolgeville" seems a corruption.
