MARY ELSIE ROWE BRYANT

MRS. ELSIE BRYANT BURIED IN ROSEMONT*

   Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Rowe Bryant, 68*, who died unexpectedly at 
her home in Courtland on Monday afternoon, were conducted yesterday at the 
Courtland Methodist Church, with the Rev. C.A. McCormick pastor, officiating. 
He was assisted by the Rev. L.M. Kanipe, pastor of the Baptist Church and 
burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Courtland.

   Mrs. Bryant was the widow of George Linwood Bryant and the daughter of the 
late James Elliott and Mary Eugenia Rowe of Southampton county.  She had lived 
in this area all of her life and was a member of the Methodist Church.

   She leaves three daughters Mrs. H.B. Meharg of Richmond, Mrs. John T. 
Faircloth of Ivor, and Mrs. S.C. Vick of Newsoms; also a son, George Leroy 
Bryant of Courtland and a brother, Charles H. Rowe of Courtland; also two 
sisters, Mrs. Bettie Whitehead and Mrs. Riddick Wells, both of Courtland. 
There are five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  Arrangements 
were made by the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home.

d. 17 May 1954, at home, Courtland, age 67*, 
interred in Riverside Cemetery (Section I, Plot 59*), Courtland, 19 May 1954, 
"The Tidewater News" (Franklin, VA), May 20, 1954 

*Elsie was b. 18 Jul 1886, so she was 2 months shy of 68. 
   Headline in error- buried in Riverside, not Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley.
