BRYANT, BOYKINS CITIZEN, 73, IS DEAD Everett Russell Bryant, 73 years of age, well-known farmer and retired merchant of Boykins, died suddenly at his home in that town Sunday morning. He was the son of the late Jonas R. and Mary Ricks Bryant of Boykins and the husband of the late Mrs. Adona Colonna Bryant. He was a member and deacon of the Boykins Baptist Church, a director of the Meherrin Valley Bank, and had served for many years on the Democratic Executive Committee of Boykins District. Surviving him hare one son, Everett R. Bryant, Jr., of Franklin; one grandson, John Everett Bryant, of Franklin; five sisters, Mrs. O.W. Gray and Mrs. C.W. Darden, Sr., of Boykins; Mrs. J.H. Keene, of Newport News; Mrs. T. Goff, of Charlotte, and Mrs. T.H. Felton, Jr., of Chicago, and three brothers, R.S. Bryant and Otis R. Bryant, of Boykins, and J.R. Bryant of Chesapeake Beach. The body was taken to W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home, Franklin, where funeral services were held from the Boykins Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon, assisted by the Rev. L.F. Callaham, pastor of the Boykins Methodist Church, with music by members of choir of the Boykins Baptist Church. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Active pallbearers were A.L. Knight, W. Hugh Powell, Earl W. Bryant, Herman O. Carlton, F.R. Stephens, P.T. Person and Dr. J.J. Grizzard. Honorary bearers were selected from a number of friends of the family.
