All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EDWARD BRANTLEY Edward Brantley, highly-esteemed farmer and citizen of the Franklin community, died at his home Wednesday afternoon following a short illness. Mr. Brantley was a familiar figure in our town where he numbered many friends who admired him for his sterling character of honesty and integrity. Mrs. Brantley, his wife and helpmeet for many years, preceded him in death only a few weeks ago, dying June 24. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Raleigh Joyner, of this community, and a number of relatives. Mr. Brantley was a loyal and consistent member of Joyner's Christian Church from which church funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock by his Pastor, Rev. R.E. Brittle. Burial was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery here, the pallbearers being: J.G. Joyner, T.R. Cobb, J.I. Joyner, Hunter Scott, R.H. Joyner, Isaac White and Samuel Cutchin.
