Bryant of Courtland, died early Friday morning, January 20, in the King’s Daughters Hospital, Portsmouth, after an illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Bryant was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mark Horne of North Carolina, and a member of Vincent Grove Methodist Church, near Capron. Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gladys Bryant Newbern of Portsmouth; one granddaughter; one half-brother, Kelly Horne of Norfolk, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by Rev. David Willis, pastor of the Capron Methodist Church. Burial was in Courtland Cemetery. Active pallbearers were E.R. Vaughan, C.W. Barnes, D.E. Johnson, G.S. Burgess, J.D. Burgess, David Johnson, E.M. Applewhite and R.A. Burgess.
