FRANKLIN PHYSICIAN DIES AT 62 Dr. John Edward Bryant Jr., 62, a retired anesthesiologist, died Wednesday. A native of Franklin, Dr. Bryant was a graduate of Franklin High School, Randolph-Macon College and the Medical College of Virginia. After the Korean War, Dr. Bryant served on the medical staff at Walter Reed Hospital before returning to Franklin, where he practiced for 30 years. Dr. Bryant was a member of the American Medical Association, the Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists, the Tri-County Medical Society and the Hunterdale Ruritan Club. Surviving are his wife, Betty Hardy Bryant; a daughter, F. Katherine Whitby of Fredericksburg; and a son, John E. Bryant III of Franklin. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. FRANKLIN FUNERAL PLANNED FOR RETIRED ANESTHESIOLOGIST A funeral for Dr. John Edward Bryant Jr., a retired anesthesiologist, will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin. Dr. Bryant, 62, died at his home here yesterday. A native of Franklin, Dr. Bryant graduated from Franklin High School, Randolph- Macon College and the Medical College of Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Korean War and was stationed at Walter Reed Hospital. He returned to Franklin after the war and practiced there for more than 30 years. Dr. Bryant was a member of the American Medical Association, the Virginia Society of Anesthesiologists and the Loyal Order of the Moose. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Betty Hardy Bryant; one daughter, Mrs. F. Katherine Whitby of Fredericksburg; and one son, John E. Bryant III of Franklin.
