[Special to The Times-Dispatch.] FRANKLIN, VA., January 18. - The funeral of Dr. James F. Bryant, who died at his home Saturday morning, took place at the Methodist Church at this place Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The pastor, Rev. J.T. Greene, conducted the services, assisted by Revs. J.L. McCutcheon, C.H. Rowland and J.B. Jones. A very large crowd, probably the largest ever seen at a funeral here, was present at the exercises. The following acted as pall bearers: Active - Drs. R.H. Cobb and E.A. De Bordenave, Messrs. J.L., P.D. and R.J. Camp, Mills E. Lawrence, I.E. Howell and J.R. Knight - all of this place. Honorary - Dr. Thomas H. Barnes and Colonel E.E. Holland, of Suffolk; Hon. J.W. Williams, of Courtland; Drs. J.E. Sebrell, L. Lankford and S. Leigh, of Norfolk; Dr. A.P. Cutchins, Messrs. J.C. Parker, J.E. Moyler, C.A. Bell and Dr. A.P. Cutchins, of this place, and Dr. T.I. Burbage, of Como, N.C. The Masonic and Pythian orders, of which he was a member, were present in bodies; also the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the veterans of the Urquhart- Gillette Camp of Confederate Veterans. The lost cause of the Confederacy was very dear to Dr. Bryant, and, according to a wish expressed some time before his death, he was buried in the veterans' uniform and wrapped in a Confederate flag. His remains were interred at the Poplar Spring Cemetery at this place with the Masonic and Pythian burial rites.
