At the time of the seizure he was in his automobile which went out of control. He had suffered from a serious heart condition for many years. Mr. Bryant was the son of the late Nathaniel Davis and Eva Woodward Bryant of Southampton County, and had spent all of his life near his birth place. He had long been an automobile salesman in the Courtland-Franklin section, except during the late war, and at the time of his death was employed as an Oldsmobile salesman by R.E. Coggsdale of Franklin. He was an active director of the Community Electric Cooperative of Suffolk, and was much interested in bringing light and other electrical services to everyone in the rural areas. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Jennie Sue Drake Bryant, whom he married in 1910; a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Lee Bryant of Richmond; a sister, Mrs. S.S. Bishop of Sunbeam; and an aunt, Mrs. Bettie Bryant Flippen of Covington, Tenn. An indulgent husband, father and brother, he will be greatly missed by his many loved ones. Funeral services for Mr. Bryant were conducted from Mt. Horeb Methodist Church, of which he had been a member since childhood, on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock by his pastor, Rev. R.H. Shapland, assisted by R.L. Chadwick and Rev. R.D. Stephenson. A choir composed of members of the choirs of Mt. Horeb Methodist and Sunbeam Baptist churches sang "How Firm A Foundation;" and Joel Holland of Murfreesboro, N.C., accompanied by Mrs. R.L. Chadwick, pianist sang "No Night There." The large crowd that attended the funeral and the many floral pieces were a well deserved tribute. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin. Active pallbearers were Julian Stephenson, Harry Fowler, Sterling Bryant, V.K. Daughtrey, Jr., Roswell Hart, Roscoe Edwards, Robert E. Coggsdale, and Herbert Saunders. Honorary pallbearers were member of the Men’s Bible Class, to which he belonged, and other friends of the family.
