Bryant was held Wednesday in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Herman L. Smith, pastor of Boykins Baptist Church, and the Rev. C. Allen Lawrence, pastor of Newsoms Baptist church. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. ****************************************************************************** MILLARD ROLAND BRYANT COURTLAND - A funeral service for Millard Roland Bryant was conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Herman Smith of Courtland Baptist Church and the Rev. Allen Lawrence of Newsoms Baptist Church. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stephen Bryant, Ashby Nurney, Walter Atkins, Hersey Bradshaw, Gordan Bryant, David Kitchen, William H. Sheffield, and Leslie V. Whitehead. Bryant, 74, a retired farmer, died in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, late Monday. A native of Northampton County, N.C., he was the husband of the late Mrs. Susie Bradshaw Bryant and a son of Willie Whitfield and Mrs. Alice Barclay Bryant. He was a member of Newsoms Baptist Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Adell B. Collier of Courtland, Mrs. Alyce B. Kitchen and Mrs. Joyce B. Spivey of Franklin; three sons, Joe B. Bryant of Suffolk, Gilbert R. Bryant of Portsmouth, and Leslie B. Bryant of Chesapeake; two brothers, Felix Bryant of Newsoms and Thad J. Bryant of Suffolk; a sister, Mrs. Clarine Nurney of Courtland; and 11 grandchildren.
