LOU BRYANT On Tuesday evening, April 23, 1918, the death angel entered the home of Mr. S.B. Bryant and claimed for its victim his beloved mother, Mrs. Lou Bryant, age 73 years. She was a devout and consistent Christian, and will be greatly missed in this community and at Barnes' M.E. Church, where she was active member. The many beautiful flowers, as a final token showed the love and esteem which her friends cherished for her. Though, "In the midst of life ye are in death", we cannot refrain from the thought of the sad parting from children and earthly friends, but what is our loss was her eternal gain; and amid this parting of loved ones the angel of heavenly peace accompanied her over the river to the other shore where sorrow and pain are no more, and she will rest with husband and other loved ones gone before. She leaves to mourn their loss, four devoted children: one son, S.B. Bryant; three daughters Mrs. Elma Brett, Mrs. J.G. Railey and Mrs. W.T. Carter, besides a number of relatives and friends. The interment took place at the home burying ground Thursday at 3 o'clock, the following ministers taking part, Rev. W.R. Evans Newsoms, Rev. N.B. Foushee Lawrenceville, B.B. Slaughter Rocky Mount and J.M. Rowland Norfolk. The active pallbearers were T.W. Thorp, J.T. Bryant, Lloyd Bryant, W.T. Smith, W.V. Simmons and H.A. Barrett.
