Active pallbearers were P.J. Creath, of Richmond; L.P. Roberts, Jr., and B.M. Trotter, of Norfolk; E.B. Williamson and R.H. Mann, of Petersburg; J.P. Smith, of Dunn, N.C.; Dr. J.H. Pridgen, of Waco, Texas; Edgar Jackson, of Franklin, and J.A. Jackson, Jr., of Grantsville, W.Va. Honorary pallbearers were W.K. Weaver, B.H. Ellington, E.A. Leake, E.H. Seldon, P.J. Greath, Jr., of Richmond; A.M. Raney, Freeman, W.Va.; L.M. Raney, La Crosse, Va.; R.A. Raney, Wytheville; R.A. Raney and E.G. Raney, of Smokey Ordinary; Murray Raney, of Wytheville; John F. Mr. Bryant was born in Southampton County in 1870 and was the son of the late Captain James D. Bryant and Mrs. Mary Louise Bryant. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Agnes Raney Bryant and Miss Agnes Louise Bryant, all of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. J.A. Jackson and Miss Antoinette Bryant, of Franklin, and a number of nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** ROBERT MURRAY BRYANT Robert Murray Bryant, who was long a prominent figure in the lumber industry throughout Virginia and the Carolinas, died early Sunday morning in a Richmond hospital after an illness of a few days. Mr. Bryant was born in Southampton County on August 4, 1870. He was the son of the late Captain James DeBerry Bryant and Mrs. Mary Louise (Nutt) Bryant, and a half-brother of the late Dr. James Fenton Bryant, the late N. Bynum Bryant, with whom he was long associated in the lumber business, and the late Mrs. Littleton A. Gay. At the time of his death he was vice president of the Petersburg Shook and Lumber Co., and of Joseph P. Smith, Inc., of Dunn, N.C. He was a member of Centenary M.E. Church, Richmond. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Agnes Raney Bryant; three children, Robert Murray Bryant, Jr., George Raney Bryant and Miss Agnes Louise Bryant, all of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. J.A. Jackson and Miss Antoinette M. Bryant of Franklin; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at "Sleepy Hollow," the Bryant home near Richmond Monday at noon by Dr. George E. Booker, pastor of Centenary M.E. Church and a life-long friend of the deceased. Interment was in the family plot at Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock, Dr. Booker and Dr. George H. Spooner of the High Street M.E. Church, officiating.
