For a long number of years he was a steward in New Hope Church on the Newsoms circuit, and was faithful to his duties in all that pertained to that office, attending the quarterly conferences and services of his church, and he enjoyed the love and confidence of all who knew him, as a Christian and good citizen. During the pastorate of the writer he was married to Miss Antoinette Barrett of the Statesville community with whom he spent a happy life, and left behind him the influences of a faithful, affectionate husband and father, a good neighbor and friend. He leaves to mourn his death a true wife and two good sons, Rev. Richard Orman Bryant of the Virginia Conference and Rosser B. Bryant, Jr.*, steward and Supt. of New Hope Sunday School; one brother, Lycurgus O. Bryant, two nephews and a niece, R.H. Henderson and Mrs. Annie M. Umphlett of Norfolk, and Frank B. Bryant of Washington, besides other relatives survive. The writer has known Mr. Bryant for a number of years and feels the loss of another old friend. The funeral was conducted from his residence by his Pastor Rev. J.K. Holman, and other minister in attendance. A crowd of old friends and neighbors from near and far attended. Burial was in the family burying ground at his home. Rev. N.B. Foushee.
