RICHARD OWEN BRANTLEY 

   A funeral service for Richard Owen Brantley was conducted at 2 p.m. 
Wednesday in W.J.M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. Joseph T. McTeer. 
Burial was in Millfield Church Cemetery. 

   Pallbearers were Eddie Bulls, Charlie Bulls, Roger Tomlin, Johnny Beale, 
Johnnie Saunders, Hurley Bradshaw, Cecil Edwards, and Norris Bly. 

   Brantley, 73, a retired farmer, died Saturday night in Louise Obici 
Memorial Hospital, Suffolk. 

   A native of Southampton County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Lucy 
Ellis Brantley and a son of Charlie C. and Mrs. Bettie Delilah Bradshaw 
Brantley. 

   He was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church. 

   Surviving are two daughters, Miss Irene Brantley of Franklin and Mrs. John 
Cross of Suffolk; six sons, Clarence O. Brantley of Newport News, Calvin 
Brantley, and Marvin Brantley of Franklin, Alfred Brantley of Hawaii, Richard 
Alton Brantley of California, and Floyd Brantley of Suffolk; a brother, 
Raymond Brantley of Norfolk; and 10 grandchildren.
