BRYANT Mrs. Sadie Rountree Bryant, 81, of Courtland, a former resident of Newsoms, died Saturday morning, November 23, in Riverside Hospital, Newport News, after an illness of several months. She was the wife of J.J. Bryant of Williamsburg and the daughter of the late Daniel and Martha Worrell Rountree of Southampton County. She was a member of Newsoms Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Doll Porter and Mrs. Ray E. Drake of Newsoms and Miss Madeline Bryant of Williamsburg; three sisters, Mrs. K.T. Vick and Mrs. Nellie Ferguson of Portsmouth and Mrs. Lelia R. Witham of Courtland; three brothers, D.B. Rountree and M.F. Rountree of Newsoms and Malcolm Rountree of Orange, Calif; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by Rev. O.L. Gochenour, pastor of Newsoms Methodist Church. Burial was in Newsoms Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Guy Rountree, Donald Rountree, Lemuel Rountree, Norman Porter, William T. Ansell and James R. Ferguson. Sadie (ROUNTREE; Mrs. Jesse J.)
