All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ THOMAS EDWARD BRYANT Thomas Edward Bryant, 61 years of age, died at his home near Newsoms Saturday, May 5. Though an invalid for four years, his death came as a shock to his family and friends, his condition taking a turn for the worse only a few hours before the end. He was the son of the late Albert D. Bryant, an honored citizen and gallant Confederate soldier, and Mrs. Lydia Whitfield Bryant. Having never married, he had spent his whole life in the home where he was born, in recent years living with two sisters, Misses Addie and Alpha Bryant. Other surviving relatives are another sister, Mrs. Annie Ferguson; two brothers, S.L. and J.S. Bryant, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the home Sunday afternoon by his Pastor, Rev. J.K. Holman. Mr. Bryant was a member of Mt. Horeb M.E. Church and served for many years as steward. The pallbearers, all relatives for the family were: C.F. Whitfield, Russell and James Ferguson, Roy and Herman Bradshaw, Sterling and Willie Rives Bryant and O.R. Harrell. The numerous and beautiful floral tokens were carried by his nieces, Mrs. T.L. Woodward, Mrs. O.R. Harrell, Misses Pearle, Ruby Lee and Virginia Bryant and Mildred Ferguson. Interment was made in the Bryant square in Newsoms Cemetery.
