All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ VIDA GURLEY BRYANT Suffolk, Jan. 15 - Mrs. Vida Gurley Bryant, 71, of 139 North Saratoga Street, died at 2 o’clock this morning at the Obici Memorial Hospital after several weeks of illness. She was the widow of Floyd Bryant and daughter of the late Richard Augustus Gurley and Mary Frances Applewhite Gurley, of Southampton County. She was a member of the Main Street Methodist Church, of the Suffolk Chapter of the WCTU and of the Silver Cross Circle of King’s Daughters. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. F. Hurley and Mrs. W.S. Matteson, of Suffolk; Mrs. Frank Spring and Mrs. Jack Hope, of Norfolk; a brother, R. Clyde Gurley, of Suffolk; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. George S. Lightner, pastor of Main Street Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
