WILLIAM ALFRED BRYANT

  A funeral service for William Alfred Bryant, 87, of RFD 1, Courtland was 
held Friday at 3 p.m. in W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home by the Rev. 
Harold Lewis and the Rev. R.E. Brittle

  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland.

  Pallbearers were M.H. Bryant Jr., Bill Bryant, Pete Joyner Jr., David 
Joyner, Frank Bryant Jr., Curtis Bryant, Wayne Sykes and John Maskway.

  Bryant died Wednesday at 3:19 a.m. in a Portsmouth hospital after a short 
illness.

  A native of Southampton County, he was the son of Alfred A. and Mrs. 
Zeaulene Williams Bryant and the husband of the late Mrs. Bessie Kitchen 
Bryant.

  He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Courtland Baptist Church and 
a former member of Woodmen of the World and a member of the Manry Hunt Club.

  He is survived by three daughters Mrs. Gertrude B. Joyner of Franklin, Mrs. 
Zeaulene B. Sykes of Portsmouth, Mrs. Bess B. Sheldon of Dillsburg, Pa.; three 
sons Marvin H. Bryant of Williamsburg, Robert A. Bryant of Norfolk, and H. 
Franklin Bryant of Virginia Beach; a brother Charles S. Bryant of Gastonia, 
N.C.; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.


William Alfred BRYANT, of the Courtland area, retired carpenter, 
Southampton Co. native, d. 19 Jul 1972, Portsmouth, age 87, 
interred in Riverside Cemetery (Section I, Plot 55A*), Courtland, 21 Jul 1972,
