On Thursday, May 24, 1906, death came to the home of Mr. and [Mrs.] A. Cobb, in Courtland and [took the]refrom their only child, aged [one year] and eight months. On the [illeg.]y a large concourse of sym- [illeg.] [The] little form was laid to rest in [the ce]metery to await the coming of [mama] and papa. [Lit]tle Allen was a bright, interest- [ing c]hild, too pure and sweet for [this] cold world, so he was taken to [a be]tter one where all is well with him. Little darling, though we miss you sadly, we would not have you back again. We shall not think of him as dead, but gone before. Little Allen was sick for only three days, suffering intensely dur- ing that time, everything possible was done for the little one, but loved ones had to stand by and see him pass from earth to heaven. Yes, gone to that sweet home of rest, Where all pure spirits dwell, There to be forever blest With all the blood-washed throng. Meet him in that better land, Where all is joy and peace. Help to swell the heavenly band That walk the golden street. May God's richest blessings rest upon the sad, afflicted parents, and may they have courage to endure what now to them a trial. Weep not fond parents, Be faithful and patient to the end, Where there shall be a happy re-union in heaven. Allen Bernard COBB, Jr., son of A.
