ANNIE ELLIS COBB Mrs. Annie Ellis Cobb, 67, of Drewryville died Monday morning, August 3, at 12:25 o'clock in Leigh Memorial Hospital, Norfolk, after several years of failing health. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Anna Ellis of Southampton County. Mrs. Cobb is survived by her husband, Charlie Everett Cobb; four sons, C.D. Cobb and Robert S. Cobb of Drewryville, R.E. Cobb of South Hill, and A.E. Cobb of Boykins; seven daughters, Mrs. C.K. Barnes and Mrs. P.J. Mattox of Drewryville, Mrs. J.R. Carriker of Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Z.V. Barrington of Norfolk, Mrs. W.H. Drewry, Jr., of Franklin, Mrs. J.K. Snead of South Hill, and Mrs. E.W. Smelley of Richmond; 20 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. W.A. Partridge of Drewryville. The deceased was a member of Hebron Baptist Church. Funeral services for Mrs. Cobb were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock in Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, Drewryville, by Rev. H.B. Jennings, a former pastor, and Rev. J.T. Cassell, pastor of the Drewryville Methodist Church. The choir, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Fisher, sang "Safe In The Arms of Jesus" and "Near to the Heart of God." The casket was covered by a pall of asters. Burial was in the Drewryville Cemetery. Friends of the family were honorary pallbearers. Active pallbearers were John T. Claud, Robert D. Claud, Burton Drewry, Fred Fisher, Bruce Flowers, Owen W. Johnson, Bill Leigh and Thornton Thomas.
