All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ALMA LEE CAROON COBB Mrs. Alma Lee Cobb, formerly of Capron, died Sunday night, November 2, in Portsmouth after a long illness. She was eighty-one years old at the time of her death, and had been a member of the Capron Baptist Church for sixty years. Mrs. Cobb was the daughter of Pelege and Mary E. Caroon of Southampton County. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. J.H. Wade of Portsmouth and Mrs. S.H. Edwards of Capron; one brother, T.M. Caroon of Franklin; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were conducted at the grave on Tuesday afternoon of last week at three o’clock by her pastor, Rev. H.B. Jennings, and burial was in the cemetery at Capron. The pallbearers were Sydney, Samuel, and Emerson Edwards, Leonard Smith, E.D. Calloway and Herman Caroon. Alma Lee (CAROON MYRICK; Mrs. Joseph G. Her Death Certificate, #25428, gives b. 10 Sep 1866, dt/o Pellage R. & Sarah Lee Caroon; the informant was Mrs. Zora B. Wade [dt by 1st m.].
