All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ EVIE GARDNER COBB FRANKLIN - Mrs. Evie Gardner Cobb, 79, died Monday about 6:30 p.m. in the local hospital after sudden illness. Daughter of George A. and Mary Cotton Gardner of Southampton County, she had been a resident of Franklin for years. She was one of the oldest members of the Sycamore Baptist Church and belonged to its Grace Wiggins Circle. She is survived by her husband, James Percy Cobb Sr.; five daughters, Mrs. J.B. Cook of Richmond, Mrs. W.M. Pope of Norfolk and Mrs. John L. Eley Jr., Mrs. Matthews Turner and Mrs. Robert E. Johnson of Franklin; three sons, James Percy Cobb Jr., of Richmond and Fenton Cobb and Gardner Cobb of Franklin; a half brother, George Gardner Jr. of Norfolk; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a niece and two nephews. The body was taken to the W.J.M. Holland and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at the home, 605 Norfleet St., Wednesday at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Thomas W. Downing, pastor of Sycamore Baptist Church. Burial will be Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
