All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ ELIZABETH MARTHA DILLARD COBB Mrs. Eliza Martha Cobb, a resident of Franklin for many years, died suddenly in Suffolk, July 7 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.P. Lipscomb, with whom she had made her home since 1924. Mrs. Cobb, who was in her 83rd year, was the daughter of Col. George H. Dillard and Mrs. Eliza Harrison Dillard of "Ingleside" Sussex County, prominent citizens of that county. She was the wife of R. Henry Cobb, well-known merchant of this town, who serviced as postmaster here during the first administration of Woodrow Wilson, dying in October, 1916. Their children are Robb W. Cobb of Norfolk and Mrs. W.P. Lipscomb of Suffolk. Mrs. Cobb is also survived by two grandchildren, Esther Louise Cobb of Norfolk and Dicky Lipscomb of Suffolk. She leaves two nephews, A. Marshall and George D. Brownley of Norfolk, and two nieces, Mrs. W. Wright Smith of Franklin and Mrs. Frank A. Holladay of Suffolk. Funeral rites were conducted from Emmanuel Episcopal Church here yesterday at noon where Mrs. Cobb had been a consistent communicant for more than 50 years. The Rev. Herbert N. Tucker of Suffolk conducted the services, and burial was made in the family plot in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Marshall and George Brownley of Norfolk, Frank A. Holladay and Walter F. Story of Suffolk, W.W. Smith, R.A. Pretlow, G.G. McCann and Barclay Pretlow of Franklin. "Eliza" Elizabeth Martha (DILLARD; Mrs. R.
