Cobb of Franklin, died in Parrish Memorial Hospital Portsmouth, early Tuesday morning after an illness of only a few days. Developing blood poison from some unknown cause, the little girl was taken to the Portsmouth hospital last Thursday night by Mr. and Mrs. Cobb where she lingered until Tuesday morning just after midnight, medical science availing nothing in checking the malady. She was the daughter of Mr. Cobb and his first wife, who was Miss Gladys Hutchins of Portsmouth and who died here 11 years ago when Gladys was born. She was a sweet and interesting child, with a good record in school, and known and appreciated in her church as a girl of unusual consecration for her tender years. A faithful attendant upon church services: always in her place in the Junior Department of the Sunday school, and one of the most active and useful members of the Junior B.Y.P.U., her character thus early was shaping itself into abundant promise of a beautiful life. The lovable character and amiable disposition of the little girl makes the time and nature of her going the more tragic and enlists the genuine sympathy of all of our people for the members of her family in their bereavement; to her father, step-mother and one brother, Herbert, Jr. to all of whom she was devoted, and to her other intimate friends, young and old, who sorrow with them in their grief. Services were held from the home on the Franklin-Courtland Highway Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. R.D. Stephenson, her pastor, assisted by Rev. E. Norfleet Gardner of Dunn, N.C. Mrs. R.P. Rawls sang "Living for Jesus," and interment was made in Poplar Spring Cemetery, the body bearers being Adolph Cutchin, Garland Benton, Jordan Rountree, Harry Cobb, James Cobb and Herbert Councill, Jr. Gladys Hutchins COBB, daughter of Herbert G.
