A native of Southampton County, he was husband of Mrs. Thelma Whitley Cobb, and was owner and operator of Cobb’s Taxi Service, and Cobb’s Exxon Service Station. He was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Besides his widow, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ann Hedgepeth of Durham, N.C.; two sons, Gardner E. Cobb, Jr. of Mountain Lake, N.J., and William P. Cobb of Dover, Delaware; and three sisters, Mrs. John L. Eley, and Mrs. Robert D. Johnson, both of Franklin, and Mrs. William Pope of Norfolk. Funeral arrangements are pending. Holland - Wright Funeral Home has charge.
