All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ MARY OWEN WHITE COBB Mrs. Mary Owen White Cobb, age 93, daughter of the late Mary Eliza Owen and William Walter White and the widow of Wilmer Thomas Cobb, died on Saturday, May 27, 1978 in the Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Va. Her entire life had been spent at Woodland, her childhood home near Courtland. Her early education was received from her father and later she was graduated from Southern College in Petersburg. After which, she taught school for several years. For twenty years she was a church organist and Sunday School teacher at Old Trinity Methodist Church. Mrs. Cobb was next to the oldest member of Courtland Methodist Church, where she served as leader of Mary White Cobb Circle for seventeen years. She was a charter member of the Nottoway river Woman's Club and a former member of the U.D.C. Survivors include a daughter, Miss Mary Owen Cobb and a son, Walter White Cobb, both of the home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in Courtland United Methodist Church by the Rev. W.W. Clarke. Burial in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial may be made to the Building Fund of the church or Courtland Rescue Squad. Wright Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mary Owen (WHITE; Mrs. Wilmer T.)
