All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ PATSY JANE FOX COBB Mrs. Patsy Jane Cobb, 75, of 551 Florida Avenue, Portsmouth, widow of Joseph Simeon Cobb, died at 1:05 o’clock Monday afternoon, January 10, in a Portsmouth hospital after an illness of about 12 days. She had been in failing health for some time. A native of Southampton County and for many years a resident of Franklin, where he husband was chief of police, Mrs. Cobb was the daughter of the late J.K. and Mrs. Ann M. Fox. She had resided in Portsmouth for the past 12 years, holding her church membership in the First Christian Church of that city. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Emily Cobb Lee and Mrs. James W. Rakestraw of Portsmouth; a son, Joseph Simeon Cobb, Jr., of Portsmouth; a grandson, Billy Rakestraw of Portsmouth; two sisters, Mrs. W.G. Seaborn of Jarratt and Mrs. S.E. Edwards of Adams Grove; and a brother, J.W. Fox of Adams Grove. Funeral services for Mrs. Cobb were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Snellings Funeral Home in Portsmouth; and burial was in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin, at 3:30 o’clock, with Rev. H.G. Councill, Jr., pastor of Rosemont Christian Church, Norfolk County, officiating.
