SALLIE AMANDA DAVIS COBB

   Died, November 18th 1895, at her residence in Southampton County, Va., Mrs. 
Sallie H.* Cobb, wife of Mr. V. Hunter Cobb, in the 36th year of her age.  She 
was taken suddenly ill, and died in a few minutes afterward.  Just before 
death had claimed her, she spoke of her husband and children, and requested a 
dear friend who was standing by her bedside to look after her children.  Sad 
it was to part so suddenly with one whom we loved.  She had been a member of 
the Methodist church since her girlhood, and was a faithful and devoted wife, 
a loving and affectionate mother, and a kind and obliging neighbor.  In her 
death the community in which she lived has sustained a great loss.  She was 
held in high esteem by all who knew her.  A large concourse of friends and 
relatives were present at her burial, her remains being interred in the family 
burying ground, a few hundred yards of the home of her birth.  She leaves a 
husband and four children to mourn their loss.
