Cobb died at his home in the Franklin community Tuesday night of this week in the 75th year of his life. He had been in ill health for six years or more and was confined to his home for several months prior to his death. Mr. Cobb was the son of the late Alfred and Mrs. Peggy Vaughan Cobb of this county. He was born in Isle of Wight but his father moved back to Southampton when the son was a small boy and he had spent practically his entire life in the Sycamore community. His wife, who was Miss Florence Parker of this county, died September 6, 1927, and their children are: Clarence Herbert and Alfred Cobb and Miss Florence Cobb, all of Franklin, and Mrs. C.T. Drinkard of Appomattox, Va. Mr. Cobb is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Eliza Sheffield of Suffolk, and a large family connection in the town and community. Mr. Cobb was a man of many fine qualities, quiet and unassuming in nature and a good citizen. He had been a consistent member of Sycamore Baptist Church for half a century or more and a deacon of that congregation for many years. Funeral services were conducted from Sycamore yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock by his Pastor, Rev. Kenneth E. Burke, assisted by two former pastors, Rev. E. Norfleet Gardner of Dunn, N.C., and Rev. L.F. Paulette of Smithfield, Va., and by Rev. R.D. Stephenson. The body bearers were: Rufus E. Darden, L.M. Edwards, J.C. Vaughan, Jesse Edwards, Lee Vaughan, W.T. Harcum, Jesse Gardner and Tyler Edwards. Thomas Wade COBB, retired farmer, b.
