All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/va/vafiles.htm ************************************************ WILLIAM EMMETT COBB William Emmett Cobb, 72, well-known resident of Franklin, died on Thursday afternoon, June 21, in a Williamsburg hospital after a brief illness. The deceased was the son of the late William Mills and Mary Darden Cobb of this county. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church, in which he served for many years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ada Gardner Cobb; one son, William Allen Cobb of Rocky Mount, N.C.; two grandchildren; two brothers Joseph Henry Cobb and Linwood Cobb, both of Franklin; and three sisters, Mrs. W.O. Cotton, Mrs. Herbert Beamon and Mrs. W.H. Howell, Sr., all of Franklin. Funeral services for Mr. Cobb were held at the graveside in Poplar Spring Cemetery on Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock with Rev. R.D. Stephenson and Rev. L.M. Kanie officiating. Pallbearers were Walter Beaman, Lawless Cobb, Russell Cotton, Alden H. Gee, Robert Howell and Leroy Vaughan.
