Walter Henry Cobb, Sr., 72, a farmer of the Sedley community died suddenly Friday afternoon December 24, while shopping in a Sedley store. His death was due to a heart attack. The deceased was the son of the late Walter Henry and Leathy Beale Cobb of this county. He was a member of Grace Memorial Methodist Church, Sedley. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lorena Beale Cobb of Sedley; two sons, Robert Henry Cobb and Lawrence Burnley Cobb of Sedley; two daughters, Mrs. Randolph Fowler of Franklin and Mrs. Melvin Gwaltney of Smithfield; six grandchildren; two brothers, Tony R. Cobb of Franklin and Sam Cobb of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; and three sisters; Mrs. Hurley Edwards of Franklin, Mrs. Johnnie Joyner of Petersburg, and Mrs. Floyd Whitley of Sedley. Services for Mr. Cobb were conducted in the chapel of W.J.M. Holland & Sons on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. C.A. McCormick, pastor of Grace Memorial Methodist Church, assisted by Rev. James W. Turner, pastor High Street Methodist. Interment was in Poplar Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were August Bradshaw, H.H. Chappell, Kenneth Howell, Clarence Owen, J.D. Owen, Bernard Smith, Thomas Simms and Earl Wills.
