Cobb, 62, prominent farmer of the Sebrell community, who died Saturday in a Richmond hospital after two weeks of illness, were held at the home Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. P.D. White, of the Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. T.T. Fowler of Portsmouth and William Edwards of Duke University, officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers were L.M. Cobb, Jr., E.S. Manry, M.R. Bryant, Edwin and W.R.L. Cobb, III, B.W. Sebrell, Jr., and the Rev. T.T. Fowler. Mr. Cobb was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.R.L. Cobb, Sr. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary White Cobb, one daughter, Miss Owen Cobb, of Kenbridge; two sons, Wilmer T. Cobb, Jr., and Walter White Cobb, of the community; one brother W.R.L. Cobb, Jr. of Courtland, and a number of nieces and nephews. ****************************************************************************** Wilmer Thomas Cobb was born in Southampton County on his father’s farm 7 miles from Courtland November 27, 1880, and departed this life Saturday morning, November 14, in the 62nd year of his age. He was the youngest son of Wickliffe R.L. Cobb and Mary Anna Ricks Cobb. He attended the public school taught by the late Wm. Walter White* then went to Randolph-Macon Academy at Bedford. Upon leaving school he chose farming as his vocation, and followed this all through life. On November 7, 1907, he married Miss Mary Owen White, the only child of the late Wm. Walter White and his wife, Mary Eliza Owen White. He is survived by his wife and three children, one daughter, Miss Mary Owen Cobb; two sons, Wilmer Thomas Cobb, Jr. and Walter White Cobb. Also one brother, W.R.L. Cobb, Jr. all of the Courtland community. When a young man he joined old Trinity M.E. Church and was a faithful and consistent member of this church until it burned in 1924. He was known as a good husband and father, as well as genial friend and neighbor. Funeral services were held from his late residence Sunday afternoon, November 15, at 3 o’clock, conducted by his pastor, Rev. P.D. White, assisted by Rev. T.T. Fowler and Rev. W.E. Edwards, with burial in Riverview Cemetery, Courtland. Pallbearers were L.M. Cobb, Jr., W.R.L. Cobb, 3rd, Edwin Cobb, Elmo Pittman, M.R. Bryant, Jr., Rev. T.T. Fowler, E.S. Manry and B.W.
